There be句型是英语中最常见的句型之

一、下面笔者结合多年高中英语教学经验，将There be句型的用法做一简要总结。

1.there be句型常用来表示某地/某时有某物/某人

—Are there any birds in the picture？
—Yes， there is 或there are. —No， there isn’t. there aren’t.
— How many birds are there in the picture？
—There are more than fifty classes in your school， aren’t there？

2.There be句型常用的时态有现在时、过去时、将来时、完成时

There will be a meeting this evening.
He there been any letters from Jack lately？
There had been many such accidents before you came.

3.主谓一致，就近原则

There is a pen， a pencil-box and some books on my desk.
There are some books，a pen and a pencil-box on my desk.

4.主语的定语

There is a purse lying on the ground. （=Which is lying on the ground.）
There is a road leading to the top.（=which leads to the top.）
There are five minutes left now.
There is a lot of work to do. 有许多工作要做。
（接不定式常用主动形式表被动意义）
注意：当该句型主语是something，anything，nothing等不定代词时，后面的不定式用主动形式或被动形式，意义各不同。
There is nothing to do. 没有事可做。
There is nothing to be done. 没有办法（束手无策）。
5.与其他词连用，构成复合谓语（can ，be likely to ，happen to ，seem to ，used to 等）
There may be a rain this afternoon. There happened to be nobody in the room.
There used to be a cinema here before the war.
There are likely to be more difficulties than they he been prepared for.
据说双方都有不少伤员。
6. there be 句型的变体 there be结构中的be可用come，develop，exist， fall，follow， happen，lie ，live，occur，remain 等替换。
There fell a deep silence. 突然一片寂静。
There remains one more test to be carried out before putting the instrument into operation.
7.习惯用语 There is no good /use （in） doing something.（=It is no good/use doing...）
He is very ill. Send him to hospital. There’s not a moment to lose.
There is no point in arguing further.再争下去也没用。（need/use/sense/possibility/point）
8.there be句型非谓语动词， There be 的非谓语形式有两种，即there to be 和there being
A.作主语时，一般是There being结构，当句式中有for时，一般用there to be。
It is impossible for there to be any more. 不可能再有了。
For there to be no late comers was unusual.=It was unusual for there to be no late comers.
B.作动词宾语时，常见动词expect，mean，intend， want， prefer等的宾语用there to be 结构：

ct there to be no argument. 我们希望不会出现争吵。
People don’t want there to be another war. 人们不希望再有战争。
Ann never dreams of there being a chance for her to be sent abroad very soon. He was disappointed at there being so little to do.
C.作状语 There being nothing to do， we he to go home.
There being nobody at hand，I had to do it by myself.
注意：作介词宾语常用There being句式，但当在for后时用there to be句式。
This depended on there being a sudden change.
The teacher was waiting for there to be complete silence.
