【Abstract】With the development of Higher Vocational Education, the reform of Higher Vocational Education becomes a hot issue in educational circles. This thesis analyzes the problems of English teaching for non-English majors of vocational colleges, and proposes some tips for it.。

I.Introduction
With the swift development of our country, especially its entry into the WTO, China has more opportunities to communicate with the outside world. Furthermore, with the development of vocational education and the increasing need for advanced applicants who can use English very well, people began to focus on English-teaching for non-English majors of vocational colleges. The Department of Higher Education issued the Basic Requirements for English-teaching of Higher Vocational College in 2000; what’s more, the Training Objectives of Higher Vocational Colleges requires more attention to the applicability of students, which he led to the improvement of English-teaching of Vocational College.
Ⅱ. Existing problems
ⅰ. Inadaptable textbooks.The vocational colleges often adopt single one book for all the non-English majors, regardless of the difference between one another. For example, in Chongqing Water Resources and Electric Engineer College, Innovation College English is chosen for all the freshmen. As far as I am concerned, such a phenomenon is not so scientific or reasonable but quite unacceptable. Besides, the teachers often find their textbooks either too difficult or too easy for the students. For example, Advanced Touri English which is too difficult for the students is adopted by sophomore of non-English majors in Chongqing Creation Vocational College. Consequently, the teachers often feel it’s hard to handle the textbook.
ⅱ.Insufficient construction of English teacher.With the development of Higher Vocational Education, various vocational colleges raise quickly. However, lots of vocational colleges are upgraded from the secondary or technical schools. The common problem of English teachers in vocational college is the lower quality, such as: lower academic qualifications、lower practical skills、lower teaching quality、conservative teaching methods and so on. In addition, Most of the vocational colleges are lack of expenses, which seriously affect the construction of English teacher.
ⅲ. Joint Classes.Joint lessons are two or more classes are taught at the same time in the same classroom, which is rather unforable for English teaching. Lots of vocational colleges give joint classes in order to optimize the teaching resources and to reduce expenses. teacher and the students is quite limited, so the scale of the class is bid. In addition, the opportunity for the students to practice becomes much less. However, both the interaction and the in-class practice are essential for English teaching and learning. 摘自:本科论文www.618jyw.com
